Our focus is on ball work and mastering the ball. We start with the basics and the sessions advance as the player learns and develops different foot skills. Players have 10 to 14 flexible sessions to attend a class each week.
First hour of training focuses on technical skill development via various progressive foot work drills. Last 20-30 minutes are geared towards small sided games, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, 2v1… which gives our coaches a chance to see the players in action and continuously evaluate their development needs. The players also get to apply what they have learnt while keeping up with the intensity and decision making of a small sided game.
Coaches continuously evaluate the players and determine where to focus their training and also assign them homework that gives them some direction on what to work on and also make them accountable and responsible for their development. Homework is assigned for a 3 week period and has to be completed and submitted for the player to remain part of the program.
SIQG always has a free intro session where the parent and player can attend and try the session to determine if it is a good fit at no cost. This gives new parents a chance to watch some of the training sessions and to gain a better understand of our training approach and they can also get the input of other present parents that are currently part of the program.
We believe in small groups training with emphasis on the details, quality and continuous evaluation and feedback from our coaches. Our maximum number of students for each group session is 10. We currently have 2-10 players during each session.
Our current session times:
Monday to Friday at 4:30pm (Session #1) and 6:00pm (Session #2) at Steinbeck Elementary School 820 Steinbeck Dr, San Jose, CA 95123.
Our player development belief emphasizes on player technical development, which breeds confidence and leads to being calm on the ball. Players that are calm on the ball have better vision and positional awareness with regard to their teammates/opponents and their options. This results in better decision making in terms of the best pass option, when and where to dribble, when and where to move and understanding the flow of the game.
Our camps are developed to be a fun and entertaining learning experience.
Small group training ensures our coaches spend sufficient time with each player.
